Steel Bridge Design, Fabrication and Erection
Every steel bridge starts with a clear understanding of the site, the loads and the applicable codes. Our team covers steel bridge design, fabrication and erection under one roof, so drawings, workshop production and site installation stay coordinated. To understand the engineering behind the process, read our steel bridge design guide, which explains loads, bearings and the main bridge types.
In the fabrication stage, structural members such as girders, trusses, cross girders and bracings are cut, welded and assembled in controlled workshop conditions. Fabricating off-site shortens the time spent at the project location and reduces disruption to traffic on existing roads and railway lines. Components are then transported to site and erected in sequence, using methods suited to the span, the access available and the permitted working windows.
Surface protection and painting are part of the same workflow. After fabrication, steel members are cleaned and coated with a protective paint system chosen to suit the environment the bridge will serve, which helps the structure resist corrosion and weather over its working life. Erection and commissioning follow at site, where the members are lifted, aligned and joined, and the completed structure is checked before it is handed over for use. Keeping coating, erection and commissioning with one team keeps quality control consistent through to handover.
Steelworks can work from client drawings or develop the design with its engineering team, depending on what the project needs. Share your span, loading and location details, and our team will advise on a suitable steel bridge solution.
Steel Railway Bridges and Camel Back Girders
Railway bridges carry heavy, repeated loads, which is why steel is widely used for rail crossings in India. Our guide to steel railway bridges explains why steel suits railway infrastructure, from handling dynamic loads to enabling rapid construction. Steelworks supports railway bridge projects with fabrication of girders and related structural components.
A camel back configuration has a top chord that rises toward the middle of the span, which places the greatest depth where bending forces are highest. This shape makes efficient use of steel over medium spans and is familiar to railway engineers.
Railway work follows the specifications, drawings and inspection requirements set by the client or the railway authority. Send us the drawing set or the tender requirements, and we will confirm how we can support fabrication for your railway bridge.
Why Choose Steelworks as Your Steel Bridge Fabricator
Choosing a steel bridge fabricator is about more than price. You need a partner that understands the design intent, controls fabrication quality and keeps the erection schedule realistic.
Steelworks offers design, manufacturing and installation of steel bridge structures, including national highway bridges, railway bridges, foot over bridges, skywalks, ramps and cable-stayed structures. Keeping these services with one team means fewer handovers and clearer accountability from drawing to handover.
Steelworks group companies hold RDSO vendor approval: Vendor Approval RDSO SWPEPL and Vendor Approval RDSO SWIPL.

Steel Bridge FAQs
What is a steel bridge?
A steel bridge is a bridge whose main load-carrying members, such as girders, trusses or arches, are made of structural steel. Steel has a high strength-to-weight ratio, so it allows long spans and can be fabricated off-site.
What types of steel bridges does Steelworks build?
Steelworks builds national highway bridges, railway bridges, foot over bridges and skywalks, ramps and cable-stayed structures.
Does Steelworks handle design as well as fabrication?
Yes. Steelworks offers design, manufacturing and installation of steel bridges. It can work from client drawings or develop the design with its engineering team.
How do I request a quote for a steel bridge?
Use the enquiry form on this page and share the span, loading, location and any drawings you have. The Steelworks team will respond with the next steps.
